I think some of the best writing comes from our triggers. There is power in writing about and sharing things that cause you to have an emotional charge.
This is one of those posts for me.
It came from a MAJOR trigger that I have, and this morning, that trigger was set off by a single sentence.
The sentence said: “We might even have to go into a government-funded nursing home because of our failing health.”
Now, none of what I’m about to say has anything to do with the author or even the book itself. In fact, the author was only giving an imagined for-instance example about retirement.
What triggered me and set me off was that sentence, whether real or an imagined example, is what’s wrong with the way people think about health and aging.
Most people believe that getting older = declining health.
And they just accept this belief as truth and then they actually plan for it!! They actually set things up so that when their health declines they’ll be able to afford it or deal with it.
This is fucking insane to me. Like, INSANE, with ALL capital letters.
So I’m just gonna blow this belief right out of the water, okay? ‘Cause I’m really getting tired of hearing people say and think nonsense.
Because it’s NOT true.
Your health DOES NOT have to decline just because you get older. And it’s the decisions you make NOW that will determine your fate in that area.
When I was going through health coaching school years ago, I learned something that changed my life: Given half a chance, your body will heal itself.
Our bodies–like everything in nature–were created with the innate ability to heal themselves from ANYTHING, chemical, physical or emotional.
And given half a chance, they will do as they are designed.
The problem is, most people aren’t giving themselves half a chance. Not even close.
If you’re exercising and eating well, you may think I’m not talking to you when I say all of this. But I am. I’m talking to you as much as I’m talking to the people who eat fast food and don’t work out.
Because when it really comes down to it, that stuff isn’t what actually matters (it’s part of it–don’t go biting my head off–but there’s a lot more to it you probably don’t know).
So let’s start by talking about some fundamental truths about human health, and I’m quoting these from an incredible book by Dr. Steve Judson called “Wake Up, Humans!” (you can grab yourself a copy of his book here: https://amzn.to/337dS1G):
“Truth #1: HEALTH is your body’s ability to perform.
Truth #2: When PERFORMANCE suffers, symptoms appear.
Truth #3: When SYMPTOMS present themselves, it is the body’s way of communicating an underlying problem.
Truth #4: Your body’s performance is controlled by your body’s CHEMISTRY.
Truth #5: Your body chemistry is controlled by your GLANDS.
Truth #6: Your glands are controlled by your CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM.
Truth #7: If your glands are functioning at something less than 100 percent, we can conclude that your central nervous system is functioning at something less than 100 percent.
Truth #8: The VERTEBRAE of the spine protect the central nervous system.
Truth #9: It has been PROVEN that pressure on the spinal cord disrupts the function of nerves.
Truth #10: Take care of your central nervous system by getting the pressure off and your body can do what it was made to do: HEAL ITSELF.”
THIS is the actual TRUTH and the KEY to long-lasting health. Now it’s in YOUR hands.
And that’s why it’s not just about eating well and exercising. Yes, that’s part of it, but it’s not the most important part (thou that’s what’s being fed to you by the health industry).
The most important part, the part that matters more than all those other parts, is whether or not you’re taking care of your ATLAS BONE.
Which brings us to the next part of our health lesson today, because right now you’re probably thinking, “what’s an Atlas bone?”
The Atlas bone is the most important bone in your body (IMHO). It’s the bone at the very top of your spine, right below your skull.
And it’s the bone that protects your brainstem.
When this bone is moved out of place (creating a misalignment), from seemingly harmless things that happen in daily life, like bumping your head in the car or going on a crazy roller coaster ride, or from more extreme things, like car accidents or falls, it puts pressure on your brainstem, which then causes pressure on your central nervous system.
What happens when you have pressure on your brainstem? Again, quoting Dr. Judson:
- “Reduced nervous system function
- Reduced gland function
- Less than optimal body chemistry
- Less than 100 percent performance
- Symptoms”
If you’re having symptoms of ANY KIND, from little aches and pains to full on dis-eases to weird symptoms no one can explain, I guarantee you have pressure on your brainstem and central nervous system.
AND IF YOU HAVE PRESSURE ON YOUR BRAINSTEM AND THEREFORE A LESS-THAN-100-PERCENT FUNCTIONAL CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM, YOU ARE NOT ACTUALLY HEALTHY.
#SorryNOTSorry And no amount of kale or running on the treadmill can change that.
THIS is why you see people who eat well and work out having heart attacks or see athletes dropping dead on the field, etc.
You may feel healthy, you may look healthy, but your body is still NOT functioning at 100 percent if you have pressure on your brainstem and central nervous system (and MOST PEOPLE DO).
This now brings us to our final health lesson of the day, and that is: if you want to truly BE healthy, you MUST take care of your central nervous system, which means taking care of your Atlas bone.
How do you do that? By going to see an Upper Cervical Chiropractor (UCC).
A UCC’s job is to help you take care of your central nervous system, making sure it’s free of pressure (aka subluxations) so your brain can communicate with your body at 100 percent and so your body can function at 100 percent.
Then and only then will you be healthy for real. And then what you choose to do from there is up to you.
You can choose to eat healthy and exercise, that will just extend your health and feel-good into those later years, the years where most people believe they will be sick and decrepit.
But you don’t have to be.
I’ve just given you the keys to health, longevity and never having to worry about ending up in a government-funded nursing home because of your failing health.
You’re welcome. 🙂
Oh, and how do I know all of this?
Because when I was 14 years old, I fell off a building, and it fucked my body and mind up for 15+ years.
But thanks to an incredible UCC who has helped me take care of my central nervous system since Jan 2014, my body has healed itself and continues to heal itself. I get healthier and feel better every day because my central nervous system is functioning at 100 percent.
Most people get sicker and less healthy every day because theirs is not (even when they exercise and eat well). And they have nowhere to go but down.
If you have pressure on your brainstem and central nervous system, your body literally CANNOT fully do its job to heal you at 100 percent from everything it may encounter. Period.
The sad thing is, I know most people will ignore everything I’ve said here (most didn’t even read this far). Most will say I’m crazy and I don’t know what I’m talking about and I’m “not a doctor” (it’s true, I’m not nor do I want to be, unless it’s a UCC doctor).
Most will continue to buy into the nonsense beliefs about aging and retirement years and what happens to your body as you get older (or, frankly, incorrect beliefs about chiropractors).
But you don’t have to be most people.
You can choose to get your nervous system under care and finally have the health and the feel-good you desire and deserve.
The real truth is that your body was made to heal itself and given half a chance, IT WILL.
The only question is, will YOU give yours that chance?
