I subscribe to the most amazing daily emails called Notes From the Universe (maybe you’ve heard of it?). It’s written by Best Selling Author, Mike Dooley, of The Secret. And each email is a message written from the perspective of the Universe.
The crazy thing is, even though the same email goes out to more than 750,000 people every day, you totally feel like he sent it specifically for you.
So many times the message that shows up is exactly what I need to hear and in the exact moment I need to hear it. (Of course, because that’s how it works, right?)
And yesterday’s message was so right on I immediately shared it everywhere across all my social media. It was that good.
It said:
This is what I have been saying over and over again for years now. That if you want to achieve your dreams and create your dream life you must be all-in on what it is that you want. You must not have a backup plan. You must not be one-foot-in-one-foot-out, just in case it doesn’t work out.
You must decide what you want and know that it’s yours, and then you must place your focus on it and never let it go.
No more looking around and wondering if it’s working or not. No more coming up with other options, just in case. No more worrying about whether or not it’s gonna happen.
Just all-in, doing whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, until it comes to fruition and then you keep going.
Onto the next desire, the next goal, the next dream.
Because it never ends and there’s always more that you’re gonna want once you achieve the thing you’ve been after for so long. It never stops.
But you won’t even get close to the thing you really want if you’ve got a Plan B.
If you have a Plan B, you might as well quit Plan A right now, because it’s never gonna happen. That may seem harsh, but it’s 100 percent the truth.
So long as you’re not all in on the life you really want, on the dreams you really desire to achieve; so long as you’re not completely and totally focused and committed to having your dream writing life and life in general, you’ll always struggle and you’ll always doubt yourself and you’ll always have that voice in the back of your mind…
The one that wonders if you’re good enough, if you actually have what it takes, if you really will get there at some point.
But the thing you need to realize is that if you’re all-in and you show up every day and do the work and stay focused and don’t allow yourself to be swayed by what other people say, do or think, you WILL GET THERE. It’s inevitable.
Take, for example, driving from New York to Texas (which I’ve done so many times now I can do it without a GPS). There are many different paths you can take to get there.
And regardless of which road you take, if you just keep driving, you will eventually arrive in Texas. It’s inevitable.
On a road leading to Texas, there’s no other place you can possibly end up except Texas.
Unless, of course, you stop or take a detour or freak out and worry that you may not actually get there and so you come up with a backup plan just in case the road you’re on doesn’t actually lead to Texas.
I hope you get my point.
When you cut off all other options and possibilities and keep your eye on where you want to go and then do the work every day, you will get there. You will arrive at some point. And you will get to live your dream life.
You just have to be brave enough to decide, and then to stay focused and not allow yourself to stop, no matter what.
The reason you haven’t done this yet–gone all-in on your dream life–is because deep-down you’re afraid that you can’t actually achieve Plan A. That even though you’ve always wanted it and believed you could have it, you’re still afraid you won’t get it.
But if you’re feeling this way, it can only be for two reasons:
- You’re not all-in
- You’re not doing the work
I know this for a fact, because if you were all-in and doing the work, then you wouldn’t need a backup plan or to worry about not getting there. And you wouldn’t have to let fear hold you back from doing the things you feel called to do and that you know will be a stepping stone to your dreams.
That’s what Dream Life Or Bust means.
It means knowing what you want, believing that you can have it and that it’s yours, cutting off all other possibilities and fully going after your dreams with every cell in your being. It means no backup plans, no worrying, no stressing out, no fear that it won’t work out, no concern for the safety net being gone. Just head down, doing the work, trusting in the universe and having faith in your dreams.
Because there is only Plan A.
Dream life or bust,
