For awhile now I’ve had this idea to create a monthly podcast all about the writing topics that I most get asked about by clients and the students in the workshops I teach. That’s why I’m so excited to announce that I am officially launching my new podcast: Writing Radio.
Each month in the podcast I’ll be doing a mini-writing workshop on hot topics that will help make you a better writer.
This month’s topic is… How To Write Descriptively So You Make Readers Eager to Turn the Page
One of the biggest challenges writers have is balancing between showing and telling. A common complaint I hear is, “I don’t know how to write descriptively enough to paint a picture for the reader.” In writing, telling occurs a lot more than showing, but showing is what keeps readers turning the page.
Every writer could seriously benefit from a lesson in writing more descriptively (myself included!). That’s why I thought this was the perfect topic for the debut podcast.
You will walk away from this month’s Writing Radio podcast with:
- Three exercises you can use to make your writing more descriptive
- A short written piece you can continue working on (if you want to)
- Confidence that you can now write more descriptively
If you’re ready to write much more descriptively, I invite you to join me…

What’s the biggest challenge you have with writing descriptively?
Your Podcast was excellent today. The exercises were very helpful. I tried to comment when you asked for questions, but didn’t get through. I pressed *6 but I guess it didn’t get through. Maybe next time. Thank you for this podcast and the ones to come.
Sincerely,
David M Goodman Sr.
Hi David,
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it! I think what happened was I had everyone on MUTE and I forgot to change it to the MUTE–UNMUTE setting, which is when people can unmute themselves. Whoops!! First time podcast, something was bound to go wrong, right?! LOL … feel free to email me any questions you had that you couldn’t ask on the call 🙂
