Have you ever heard the story of the bumblebee? It goes a little something like this…
According to the laws of aerodynamics, the bumblebee cannot fly. It’s body is too big for its wings. It’s physically impossible. But the bumblebee doesn’t know this and so he flies anyhow. Defying physics and achieving the impossible.
It was later proven that this is, in fact, just a story. And that bumblebees are perfectly within the laws of physics, along with many other flying insects of its size.
But the point stays with us: you can do anything if you believe you can.
I picked up this little bumblebee last year when I was in Ashland, Oregon teaching a workshop for my friend Stephanie Raffelock’s writing group. I loved the story and I wanted a constant reminder of what I also know to be true–that I can be, do and have anything I set my mind to.
This was something I knew from a young age. It was something my mom always told me growing up.
You can do, be and have anything you set your mind to.
And because I’ve always known this to be true, I’ve always refused to settle. I know what I want and I know I can have it, be it and do it. So why settle?
This is life by design. Life created with intention and focus and determination. Life based on the desire to unleash my words and my creative gifts and make an impact in the world.
The truth is, you really CAN have it all. Whatever your version of “all” is.
It all comes down to what you’re willing to believe is possible and what you’re willing to do the work to receive in your life.
And being stubborn and delusional enough to KNOW that if you hold out and stay focused and relentlessly insist on Plan A that you will, without a doubt, eventually have Plan A. Or something even better.
But you won’t ever have to fall back on Plan B or C or D. Because those options don’t exist to you.
For you, it’s Dream Life Or Bust.
